UNIVERSITY PROFILE CLEMSON UNIVERSITY : TEN YEARS OF A SUCCESSFUL PARTNERSHIP BY MICHAEL CARLOS KLEIS One day in August 2023, I walked into a mostly empty room that smelled of fresh paint. It was my new office—I was starting a new job at Clemson Univer-sity’s School of Architecture . The office contained a chair, a desk, and a phone line with no phone yet. There were also three rather unusual items: an airline ticket that didn’t include my name; a memo indicat-ing that I had to fly to Dallas, Tex., in the next couple of days; and a thick book that would become one of my most consulted textbooks: the PCI Drafting Handbook: Pre-cast and Prestressed Concrete (MNL 119). I was flying to Dallas to meet with the PCI Foundation.
