Completing as many of these features as possible ahead of time proved crucial in keeping the project on track—something that could only be realized with precast concrete. “The speed of erection on this project was critical,” Davidson says. “If you can do all the intricate work at the factory and truck the material down, you’re far better off. This allows you to enclose the building much faster.” Tight connections among all the organizations involved helped deliver these advantages to the project. “This was a project where the owner, the construction manager, the architect, and BPDL all worked very closely together to respect the project schedule and bring it to life,” Tropea says. “It was well coordinated, and a lot of work went into it. We’d be more than happy to work with any of the stakeholders again in the future.” A Shining Icon for NYC Featuring 128 residential units, an iconic art deco design, and 150,000 ft 2 of precast concrete façade, The Delecor is a more than worthy addition to the NYC skyline. Thanks to the combined efforts of the project team and a building material that is equal parts beautiful and resilient, the structure will serve the city and its residents well for decades to come. “The precast concrete panels from BPDL provided a depth of material that was important to our architect’s design intent,” says Eric Mullen, vice president of design and construction for The Torkian Group. “We were able to express the verticality of the structure and achieve a play of light and shadow that gives the façade a historic, old-New York flavor like our neighbors on Park Avenue or Central Park West.” ASCENT, FALL 2025 35
